Clinical Social Worker/Therapist
Joelle is a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and an M.Ed in Counselling Psychology from UNB.
Joelle has experience supporting youth, adults, and families who are dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem issues, dual diagnosis, terminal illness, and loss. She takes a person-centred, strengths based approach to help individuals meet their therapeutic goals.
Joelle has worked in a variety of social service fields including health care, child protection, gerontology, oncology, disability support and advocacy, and secondary/post-secondary education. Joelle has a particular interest in providing inclusive and accessible services to our community.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches including Humanistic, Interpersonal Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focussed, and CBT. I believe that the therapeutic process should be collaborative and based around your needs and goals. I feel that you are your own best expert, and plan to work with you to help you find solutions within yourself and gain coping strategies while working toward deeper change.
I am interested in making a genuine connection with each person I work with and tailor my practice to the unique needs of each client. You can expect to be treated with respect and be given the opportunity to gain new perspectives and hope in a laid back, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere.
I am available on Tuesdays and Thursdays and offer daytime and evening appointments.

Mental health and physical health are deeply connected. Those living with mental health challenges are at higher risk of experiencing many chronic physical conditions. Conversely, those living with chronic physical health conditions are more likely to experience poor mental health. Taking care of your mental health is a key part of taking care of your overall physical health and wellness. The link between body and mind is powerful.
