Joelle is a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and an M.Ed in Counselling Psychology from UNB.
Joelle has experience supporting youth, adults, and families who are dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem issues, dual diagnosis, terminal illness, and loss. She takes a person-centred, strengths based approach to help individuals meet their therapeutic goals.
Joelle has worked in a variety of social service fields including health care, child protection, gerontology, oncology, disability support and advocacy, and secondary/post-secondary education. Joelle has a particular interest in providing inclusive and accessible services to our community.
I provide therapeutic counselling for kids (ages 7 and up), teenagers, adults and families who are facing anxiety, grief, depression, stress, and relationship or self esteem issues. I have experience working with people from many different walks of life and believe that people are their own best experts but may need support to see their strengths, grow, and to heal.
In therapy sessions, I draw from a variety of frameworks including Emotion Focussed Individual Therapy, CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Humanistic Psychology, and Solution Focussed Brief Therapy. I also work from a bio-psycho-social approach, which means I understand how your background, experiences, and current situation may impact your mental health.
In sessions together, you can expect to learn coping strategies, and gain new perspectives while working toward deeper change. I am committed to working together to create a therapy experience tailored to your unique needs where you leave feeling empowered, heard, and hopeful.
