Joelle practices EMDR Therapy (short for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), which is an evidence based practice that has been successful in treating PTSD, trauma, anxiety, and more.
I provide mental health counselling for children (ages 7 and up), teenagers, and adults who are facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem issues, and trauma. I believe that people are the experts of themselves but may need some support to see their strengths, grow and make changes. My aim is to offer that support in an comfortable and laid back atmosphere, offering a safe space. This can look different for every person - from playing games with kiddos, to talking, to EMDR, to practicing breathing/calming techniques. We will figure out what works for you, together.
I identify as a Humanistic therapist and draw from a variety of frameworks
including ACT, CBT, play based therapy, and mindfulness. I also offer EMDR therapy which can be used for a variety of issues, including processing past and present traumas, anxiety, depression, grief and more.
In sessions together, you can expect to learn coping strategies and gain new perspectives while working toward deeper change. Please feel free to reach out for a free consultation if you have any questions or want to discuss if I may be a good fit for you.
"The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow. For every challenge encountered, there is opportunity for growth."
