Meet Joshua Redfurn (He/Him)

Clinical Social Worker
Joshua received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of New Brunswick, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie University. Joshua is passionate about creating a safe and relaxing environment where healing, empowerment and finding solutions are the top priorities. Joshua recognizes the significance of building on the concept of worth and deserving and places great importance on language and incorporating humor into their approach. He has been a social worker for 9 years and has been able to work in communities and within contexts where often vulnerable individuals seldomly feel heard. He has used these learnings to inform his approach in treating all individuals with compassion, respect and worth.
Animals, especially dogs, hold a special place in Joshua's heart as they provide solace and comfort to his soul. Currently, Joshua has two dogs and a cat, who bring joy and enrichment to his life. In addition to caring for his pets, Joshua has also been a co-owner of a special care home for adults with mental illness since 2011. This role allows Joshua to provide much-needed support and create a nurturing environment for those in need. Furthermore, Joshua had provided support for two individuals in their own home from 2010 to 2017. These opportunities have allowed Josh to be the safe place where individuals can heal and thrive. Joshua's commitment extends beyond his professional life, as he actively engages in outreach within his community, aiming to make a positive difference and be an advocate for those in need.
Joshua's approach is rooted in genuine care and understanding. He believes in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can feel heard, respected, and valued. He strives to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and empathy.
Joshua recognizes the unique worth and deserving of each individual, regardless of their mental health challenges and recognizes the importance of actions speaking louder than words. His intention is to empower and support an individual or groups of individuals in their journey towards healing and growth.
