It can change the way you make assumptions and judgments in your day to day life.
You are likely exhausted-mentally and physically.
You may experience sleepless nights, depression, nightmares and mood swings. These may feel normal but it is not something you need to adapt to.
You can find yourself again after trauma. There is a revised meaning to life with safety and security that can be found. That includes activities you used to enjoy and finding a sense of purpose again. A sense of safety. You don’t have to remember your trauma for it to be valid.
Many times our brains block out details as a protective mechanism. Even if you don’t believe me, there is someone who needs you right now. You can redefine how you see yourself and the world around you.
Healing from trauma is possible. You do not need to downplay your struggles. Just because you can tolerate mental pain doesn't mean that you should continue to do so.
We work with trauma nearly every day and we have therapists trained in a trauma treatment strategy known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). It can help you reduce how distressing your trauma memories are.
