Counselling Through Divorce & Separation in New Brunswick

Going through a separation or divorce can feel overwhelming — emotionally, financially and logistically. Whether the split was sudden or long-anticipated, it can leave you feeling hurt, confused, angry or unsure of how to move forward. You might be dealing with co-parenting stress, grief over a life you imagined or struggling to rebuild your identity.

Separation and divorce counselling offers a safe, non-judgmental space to help you process what’s happening, understand your emotions and begin healing.

How we can help

We provide compassionate and practical therapy for individuals and families navigating relationship transitions. Our goal isn’t just to help you “move on”, it’s to help you move forward with clarity, strength and emotional well-being. We support you in healing from the past, so you can step into the future with greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, and a renewed sense of hope.

Our separation and divorce counselling services include:

  • Emotional support and grief processing: Helping you work through sadness, anger, confusion and loss after the end of a relationship

  • Co-parenting counselling: Practical tools for effective communication, boundary-setting and creating a stable environment for your kids

  • Divorce support for kids and teens: Age-appropriate therapy to help young people understand and cope with family changes

  • Self-esteem and identity work: Rebuilding your sense of self and confidence as you navigate life on your own

  • Conflict resolution and communication skills: Especially useful if you’re still in contact with your ex-partner or share parenting responsibilities

We meet you where you are, whether you’re newly separated, in the middle of legal proceedings or adjusting to life after divorce.

How Separation & Divorce Counselling Works

The first step in connecting with a divorce counsellor in Fredericton or Saint John is to fill out this form. Based on your requirements, we’ll match you with someone we feel is best suited to help you and your partner. Alternatively, you can take our quiz and get matched with an appropriate therapist for your needs.

Counselling sessions can be conducted in-person or virtually, whichever you prefer. Sessions typically run 50 minutes long. How often you attend sessions is discussed collaboratively and is based on your needs and schedule.

You are always in control of your therapy, working at your own pace, and can choose the frequency and length to best suit your needs.

How much does separation and divorce therapy cost?

Individual sessions with a registered social worker (RSW) or licensed counselling therapist (LCT) are $150 for 50 minutes.

For Family, Couples, EMDR or Play Therapy, sessions are $160 for 50 minutes.

Our counselling fees are not covered by Medicare but are covered by many extended health insurance plans.

Our clinic has therapists who are either registered social workers (RSW) or Licensed Counselling Therapists (LCT).

You must check your specific plan for what you have coverage for, as coverage is different for each policy. Verify that your plan covers counselling/therapy with a MSW, RSW or LCT. Your insurance may state you have coverage for clinical counsellor or psychotherapist, which would cover LCT or social worker.

We also offer direct billing with many different insurance companies, which allows you to keep more money in your pocket. We can direct bill Blue Cross, Veterans Affairs (VAC), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Canada Life, Claim Secure, Chamber of Commerce, Work Safe, NIHB, Department of Social Development, and more provided your plan is set up for direct billing. Your are still responsible for any co-pay amounts at the time of service.
