Fertility Counselling in New Brunswick

Trying to grow your family and not being able to can be one of the most emotionally painful and isolating experiences in life. It’s a journey filled with uncertainty, hope, disappointment and grief — often silently carried.

Fertility counselling offers a safe, compassionate space to process those emotions, navigate complex decisions and find support for both your mental health and your relationships. Whether you’re just starting to explore fertility treatment, deep in the midst of it, or coping with loss or unresolved outcomes, our therapists are here to walk alongside you.

How we can help

Our therapists understand the emotional toll of infertility and reproductive challenges. We offer counselling that is:

  • Compassionate and non-judgmental, no matter where you are on your journey

  • Supportive through all stages — from diagnosis to treatment, pregnancy loss or decision-making around next steps

  • Helpful in managing anxiety, depression and the strain that infertility can place on relationships

  • Inclusive of all paths to parenthood, including IVF, surrogacy, adoption or deciding not to continue trying

  • Sensitive to trauma and grief, offering space for healing and clarity

Therapy can help you cope, build emotional resilience and feel more in control at a time when so much feels uncertain.

WHO WE help

We support individuals and couples who are:

  • Struggling with infertility or subfertility

  • Experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss or miscarriage

  • Undergoing fertility treatments like IUI or IVF

  • Considering or exploring third-party reproduction (egg/sperm donation, surrogacy, etc.)

  • Navigating adoption or choosing to live child-free

  • Dealing with relationship strain due to the fertility journey

Our services are inclusive of all genders, sexual orientations and family structures. We offer fertility therapy in-person in Saint John and Fredericton, and virtually across New Brunswick.

How Fertility Counselling Works

The first step in connecting with a fertility counsellor in Fredericton or Saint John is to fill out this form. Our booking coordinator takes great care in thoughtfully matching you with a therapist who fits your needs, preferences and availability.

Prefer to get started right away? You can also take our therapist matching quiz — a quick and easy way to connect with an available therapist who’s the right fit for your postpartum journey. Based on your requirements, we’ll match you with someone we feel is best suited to help you.

How often you attend sessions is discussed collaboratively and is based on your needs and schedule. You are always in control of your therapy, working at your own pace, and can choose the frequency and length to best suit your needs.

Once matched, you’ll work with your therapist to process what you’re feeling, develop coping strategies and gain tools to manage anxiety, grief, relationship challenges or decision fatigue. Sessions are personalized and flexible — whether you need short-term support or longer-term care, we’re here to walk with you every step of the way.

How much does fertility counselling cost?

Therapy sessions with a registered social worker (RSW) or licensed counselling therapist (LCT) are $150 for 50 minutes.

For Family, Couples, EMDR or Play Therapy, sessions are $160 for 50 minutes.

Is fertility counselling covered by insurance?

Our counselling fees are not covered by Medicare but are covered by many extended health insurance plans.

Our clinic has therapists who are either registered social workers (RSW) or Licensed Counselling Therapists (LCT).

You must check your specific plan for what you have coverage for, as coverage is different for each policy. Verify that your plan covers counselling/therapy with a MSW, RSW or LCT. Your insurance may state you have coverage for clinical counsellor or psychotherapist, which would cover LCT or social worker.

We also offer direct billing with many different insurance companies, which allows you to keep more money in your pocket. We can direct bill Blue Cross, Veterans Affairs (VAC), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Canada Life, Claim Secure, Chamber of Commerce, Work Safe, NIHB, Department of Social Development, and more provided your plan is set up for direct billing. You are still responsible for any co-pay amounts at the time of service.
