Meet Jessica (She/Her)
When it comes to managing stress, one of our greatest strengths is choosing which thoughts to trust. After graduating from Yorkville University as a mature student Jessica Hickie believes it is never too late to set a new goal, dream a new dream, and choose a different action.
After getting a BA from St. Thomas University Jessica focused her attention on her children until they were school aged. From there she took a private sector position helping families do financial planning, volunteering within her community, and taking online courses in health sciences.
Most of her training has been in modern psychological approaches including CBT, REBT, and DBT.
Her favourite tools are mindfulness strategies to acknowledge stress and manage anxiety and depression. And her favourite counseling approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
With clients, she believes that several tools are often necessary to manage stress in life and she is happy to pull from different approaches to tailor an eclectic form of personalized therapy.

I take a gentle and collaborative approach to counseling to help clients determine choices that are supportive of their personal values. With flexibility in mind, I have several counseling approaches to pull from.
