My Approach
My counselling approach is grounded in identity/neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and client-centred care. I draw on the humanistic foundations of person-centred practice, integrating collaborative meaning-making with evidence-based modalities such as psychodynamic insight, TF-CBT, DBT skills, narrative therapy, and mindfulness/self-compassion. I focus on understanding clients through a biopsychosocial, identity-affirming, intersectional lens. My goal is to support clients in building self-awareness, agency, and emotional regulation within a safe, validating therapeutic relationship.
Who I See
I work with youth (11+) and adults (18+) who are navigating emotional dysregulation, trauma histories, mood-related concerns, identity-based challenges, neurodivergent traits, and the impacts of stigma and shame. My practice is identity and culturally inclusive and grounded in meeting clients where they are while honouring their lived experiences, intersectional identities, and personal goals.
My Practice
My practice emphasizes collaborative treatment planning that respects client autonomy. I integrate affirming psychoeducation, strength-based interventions, and trauma-informed tools tailored to each clientβs needs. I aim to create a therapeutic space that is accessible, compassionate, and rooted in meaningful human connection. My work is guided by the belief that clients do not need to be βfixed,β they deserve to be supported, understood, and empowered.
My Experience
I come to counselling with a blend of academic training, lived experience, and years of working closely with youth and young adults. My professional background spans education, student support, and leadership roles within university settings, where I helped students navigate academic pressures, build confidence, and access the resources they needed to succeed. Through roles in teaching, program coordination, and mentorship, I built a foundation in communication, empathy, and creating safe, supportive environments.
My path into counselling is deeply personal. As someone who once struggled to find direction and support, I understand firsthand how transformative it can be to have someone in your corner. Those experiences shaped my commitment to mental health and ultimately guided me toward completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. They also inform the compassion, patience, and non-judgmental presence I bring to my work.
Across every role, whether supporting students, working with youth, or serving diverse communities, I have been known for my reliability, warmth, and ability to meet people where they are. I aim to bring that same steady, authentic presence to the clients I support, helping them feel seen, understood, and empowered in their own healing journeys.
