About Me
I’m Stephanie, and I’ve had a lot of different roles and titles - daughter, wife, mom, friend, student - but when asked to describe who I am, I like to say I’m a curious person who cares about individuals and my community, and I love seeing people thrive. I’m also a bit of a nerd and a cat lady.
My Experience
I’ve always been a person who wanted to help. This has included volunteer work, advocacy, and eventually pursuing my Master’s degree so I would have the tools to offer support to those who are struggling. I’ve worked with people from a lot of different backgrounds and needs, and I know that each story is unique. At the same time, the theme that shines through is that having support, a sense of safety, and someone in your corner can make a big difference in how you handle things. I’ve taken an interest in attachment theory, IFS, DBT, ACT, and other humanistic modalities to have the tools to tackle a variety of situations and concerns.
My Approach
I want to start with who you are - your values, experiences, your needs and your goals. I use tools from different approaches to help you better understand yourself and your situation, to look at how your strengths and resources and be used, and help you build the skills or get the tools you need to move forward. I know there is no one right approach or one magic answer - we will work together to navigate a path forward that makes sense for you.
Who I See
I have worked with youth age 10 and up, teens, young adults, and adults up to age 93. I am inclusive, recognizing that identity, background and culture all influence how we move through the world. I strive to make my practice neurodivergent affirming, gender affirming, and culturally sensitive. My focus has been on supporting clients through life transitions, substance use recovery, and grief.
My Practice
My practice is based on a fundamental belief that we make choices with the best of intention, and will thrive when we have the resources and support to do so. I recognize that experiences, situations, fears, and trauma make life difficult, and may pull us away from our goals and who we want to be. By understanding what is influencing your choices and how you feel, you can work on meeting needs, living your values, and moving toward your goals.
