Therapy for Trauma in New Brunswick
Trauma can leave lasting effects on how you think, feel and experience the world. You might feel constantly on edge, disconnected from yourself, easily triggered or overwhelmed by memories you wish would fade. Sometimes trauma is tied to a single event. Other times, itβs the result of repeated experiences over time.
Trauma can look very different from one person to anotherβsome people experience intrusive memories or strong emotional reactions, while others notice numbness, avoidance, difficulty trusting others, or feeling stuck in patterns they donβt fully understand. Healing often involves gently making sense of what happened and helping the nervous system feel safe again.
Healing is possible β and it doesnβt require you to relive everything all at once. We approach trauma work with care, pacing and a strong focus on emotional safety.
What we help withβ¦
We support children, teens and adults navigating a range of trauma-related concerns, including:
Intrusive memories, flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance, hypervigilance, emotional numbness or feeling unsafe even when you logically know you are not in danger.
A trauma-related condition that develops after prolonged or repeated exposure to interpersonal harm, often in relationships where safety and trust were compromised. C-PTSD can affect emotional regulation, self-worth, identity and the ability to form safe, trusting relationships. Therapy focuses on building safety, stabilizing emotions and gradually processing the impact of long-term trauma.
Accidents, Medical Trauma & Sudden Loss
Car accidents, serious injuries, medical emergencies or the sudden death of someone close can create shock, fear and lingering stress responses. Therapy can help you process the event and regain a sense of safety and stability.
childhood abuse
Physical, emotional or sexual abuse experienced during childhood can continue to affect self-worth, attachment patterns, boundaries and nervous system regulation in adulthood.
Sexual Trauma or AssaulT
Experiences that may impact trust, relationships, body image, intimacy and feelings of safety. Therapy offers a confidential, compassionate space to process what happened and rebuild a sense of control.
Racial Trauma & Racial Identity Concerns
The cumulative impact of racism, discrimination, microaggressions or identity-based harm. We recognize the systemic and intergenerational layers of racial trauma and provide culturally responsive, affirming care.
SINGLE INCIDENT TRAUMA
A distressing or life-threatening event that happens suddenly and overwhelms your ability to cope. Even a single experience can leave lasting emotional and physical effects.
domestic violence
Past or current experiences of coercion, control, emotional abuse or physical harm within intimate relationships. We prioritize safety, validation and empowerment.
bullying
Experiences at school, work, or onlineβincluding cyberbullyingβthat have impacted confidence, identity and emotional well-being. Bullying can involve repeated criticism, exclusion, intimidation, harassment or public humiliation. These experiences can leave lasting effects, such as self-doubt, anxiety, shame or difficulty trusting others, even long after the bullying has stopped.
religious trauma
Spiritual abuse, harmful doctrine, community exclusion or fear-based belief systems that continue to affect identity, autonomy and emotional safety.

In therapy, we may:
Build grounding and stabilization skills
Strengthen emotional regulation and coping tools
Process traumatic memories at a pace that feels manageable
Address shame, self-blame and internalized beliefs
