Therapy for Health-Related Issues, Illness & Caregivers in New Brunswick

Living with a health condition β€” or caring for someone who is β€” can affect every part of your life. It can bring uncertainty, stress, grief and emotional exhaustion, often alongside the physical challenges you’re already managing. You may be navigating changes in identity, independence, relationships or future plans.

These experiences can feel isolating, but you don’t have to carry them alone. Therapy offers a space to process what you’re going through and find ways to cope, adapt, and feel more supported.

What we help with…

We support individuals and families facing a wide range of health-related and caregiving concerns, including:

Cancer-Related Mental Health SupporT

A cancer diagnosis β€” whether your own or a loved one’s β€” can bring fear, uncertainty, grief and emotional overwhelm. We provide support at every stage, from diagnosis through treatment, recovery or recurrence.

Ongoing health conditions can impact mood, identity, daily functioning and relationships. Therapy can help you adjust to changes, manage uncertainty and cope with the emotional toll of living with illness.

CHRONIC PAIN

Persistent pain can affect mental health, sleep, energy and quality of life. We support clients in developing coping strategies and addressing the emotional impact of long-term pain.

CAREGIVER BURNOUT

Caring for a loved one can be meaningful, but also physically and emotionally exhausting. Many caregivers experience stress, guilt, resentment or burnout. Therapy provides a space to care for yourself while continuing to support others.

Terminal Illness & End-of-Life Support

Facing a life-limiting diagnosis can bring complex emotions, including fear, grief, anger and reflection. We support individuals and families in navigating this stage with compassion, dignity and emotional support.

Dementia & Alzheimer’s-Related Concerns

Supporting a loved one with cognitive decline can be overwhelming and emotionally complex. We help individuals and families navigate changes in memory, communication, roles and anticipatory grief.

How Therapy Can Help

Health challenges and caregiving responsibilities often come with layers of emotional impact that are not always visible to others. Therapy offers a space to explore these experiences openly and without judgment.

In therapy, we may work together to:

  • Process grief, loss and anticipatory grief

  • Manage stress, anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Navigate identity changes related to illness or caregiving

  • Build coping strategies for chronic pain or ongoing health concerns

  • Support decision-making and boundary setting in caregiving roles

  • Strengthen resilience and emotional well-being during uncertain times

Our therapists use compassionate, evidence-based approaches tailored to your situation, pace and needs.

Who We Work With

We support:

  • Individuals living with chronic illness or pain

  • People navigating a new diagnosis or ongoing treatment

  • Caregivers supporting loved ones with health or cognitive challenges

  • Families facing terminal illness or end-of-life decisions

Whether you are adjusting to a diagnosis, supporting someone you love or coping with the long-term impact of illness, therapy can help you feel less alone and more equipped to navigate what comes next.

How It Works

The first step in getting support is to fill out this form. Based on your requirements, we’ll match you with someone we feel is best suited to help you. Alternatively, you can take our quiz and get matched with an appropriate therapist for your needs.

Our therapists use trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, somatic strategies, attachment-focused therapy and cognitive therapies β€” always tailored to your unique needs and readiness.

Counselling sessions can be conducted in-person or virtually, whichever you prefer. Sessions typically run 50 minutes long. How often you attend sessions is discussed collaboratively and is based on your needs and schedule. You are always in control of your therapy, working at your own pace, and can choose the frequency and length to best suit your needs.
