Therapy for Women’s, Maternal & Reproductive Mental Health in New Brunswick

Women experience unique mental health challenges across different stages of life — from navigating identity and relationships to pregnancy, postpartum recovery and reproductive health concerns. These experiences can bring joy and growth, but they can also bring stress, grief, pressure and emotional exhaustion.

Whether you are adjusting to motherhood, struggling with body image, coping with fertility challenges or simply feeling overwhelmed by the expectations placed on women, therapy can offer a supportive space to talk openly and feel understood.

What we help with…

We support women and mothers experiencing a range of concerns related to reproductive health, identity and life transitions, including:

PREGNANCY & PRENATAL MENTAL HEALTH

Anxiety, fear or emotional stress during pregnancy, including concerns about birth, health, identity changes and preparing for parenthood.

Mental health challenges that can occur during pregnancy and in the months following birth, including anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, emotional overwhelm and difficulty adjusting to parenthood. These experiences are common and highly treatable with the right support. Learn more.

Adjusting to shifts in identity, relationships, independence and personal goals after becoming a parent. Learn more.

Distressing or traumatic birth experiences that can lead to anxiety, avoidance, flashbacks or difficulty bonding after delivery. Learn more.

Fertility challenges can bring grief, uncertainty and emotional strain. Many individuals and couples experience cycles of hope and disappointment, as well as feelings of isolation or loss when the path to parenthood becomes complicated. Learn more.

Grief, trauma and emotional pain related to miscarriage, stillbirth or pregnancy termination. Many people carry this loss silently and benefit from compassionate support. Learn more.

BODY IMAGE CONCERNS

Changes in body image can occur at many stages of life — during adolescence, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause or after major life changes. Therapy can help you develop a healthier and more compassionate relationship with your body.

CAREGIVER BURNOUT

Emotional and physical exhaustion from caregiving responsibilities, particularly for mothers balancing work, parenting and family demands. The arrival of a new baby can place significant pressure on relationships as partners adjust to sleep deprivation, shifting roles, increased responsibilities and less time for connection. Many caregivers find themselves feeling overwhelmed, depleted or like they have lost parts of themselves in the process of caring for others.

How Therapy Can Help

Women’s mental health is shaped by biological, social and cultural factors. Therapy provides a space to explore these experiences in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

In therapy, we may work together to:

  • Navigate the emotional changes that come with pregnancy, postpartum and motherhood

  • Address anxiety, depression and emotional overwhelm

  • Process grief related to infertility or reproductive loss

  • Strengthen self-compassion and body acceptance

  • Support identity shifts that often occur during major life transitions

  • Develop coping strategies that support emotional well-being

Our therapists use evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches tailored to your experiences, pace and goals.

Who We Help

We support:

  • Women navigating major life transitions such as pregnancy, postpartum recovery or identity shifts

  • New and experienced mothers managing the emotional demands of parenting

  • Individuals and couples experiencing infertility or reproductive challenges

  • Women seeking support with body image, self-worth and emotional well-being

  • We support individuals, parents and couples who are navigating the stress and relationship changes that often accompany caregiving and the transition into parenthood.

No matter where you are in your journey, you deserve support that recognizes the complexity of women’s experiences and the pressures many carry.

How It Works

The first step in getting support is to fill out this form. Based on your requirements, we’ll match you with someone we feel is best suited to help you. Alternatively, you can take our quiz and get matched with an appropriate therapist for your needs.

Our therapists use trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, somatic strategies, attachment-focused therapy and cognitive therapies — always tailored to your unique needs and readiness.

Counselling sessions can be conducted in-person or virtually, whichever you prefer. Sessions typically run 50 minutes long. How often you attend sessions is discussed collaboratively and is based on your needs and schedule. You are always in control of your therapy, working at your own pace, and can choose the frequency and length to best suit your needs.
